Stinkwaves is finally here!
What's that, you say? Um, hasn't the latest issue of Stinkwaves been available since late April?
Well, yes.
It just took us this long to get around to actually ordering some paper copies from Createspace. They arrived this weekend. Which means that NEXT weekend we will be going around to the local bookstores here in Lincoln, NE.
We're excited to get to know the people at Lincoln Underground, another lit-mag that's published here in Lincoln.

(Another home for your art/poetry/fiction.)
I want all of you guys to be successful writers, poets, and illustrators. By all means, continue working on your masterpiece, but in the meantime get your other stuff out there too. Any way you can. Don't hide it. Make up a pseudonym if you have too. (Hey, my first story on Smashwords--"The Swinging Tree"--was originally published under S.T. Guy. I hit that PUBLISH button, and people have been downloading it ever since.)
Literary magazines are simply a great way to get your confidence up, if need be. Hey, I'd rather have people reading my stories for FREE than not at all.
Put your work on Kindle. Put your work on Smashwords. Kobo. B&N. Just get it out there! All it requires is a little time and effort--okay, okay, a LOT of time and effort. And editing. And formatting. But if you really want to see your work in the world, set it free and into the hands of other book/poem/art lovers, then the amount of time and effort required will be an afterthought. You'll jump head first into this publishing thing--just like we did!
Most important of all, write stories you want to read. Draw/illustrate what you like to see. Create poetry that you can connect with. We've all heard about "voice" and how important it is. Whatever your talent is--painting, poetry, flash fiction, cartooning--I can guarantee you that nobody writes/draws like you do.
It's your voice. Exercise it.
